As we know, a vehicle's air filter is important to the efficient operation of the vehicle. However, many of your customers may not be fully aware just how important the air filter is. A dirty air filter can reduce gas mileage by up to 10%!
The reduced flow of air can also affect engine performance. Since the fuel injector (or carburetor, if you're old school) need the right combination of fuel and air to combust properly, a dirty air filter can lead to many problems due to the reduced amount of air coming through intake.
As a good "rule of thumb", encourage your customers to have their air filter changed every 12k-15k miles, depending on driving conditions.
